Sales & Marketing

Andy, what is your current role in Exide?

I’m the Sales & Marketing Director for the UK AM based in Trafford Park, Manchester. Just in the shadow of the Manchester United football ground.

What has been your experience in Exide so far?

I joined the company in 2008 in the above role. In the UK, we challenged ourselves to improve the business at maximum. With a combination of basic (but proven) business practice, great heart, integrity, hard work and faith we gradually worked together to establish EXIDE as the battery supplier of choice in the UK AM. I think we have made real steps forward.

What would you highlight about the Company?

I believe our endeavour is “People – in Process – for a Purpose”. If I were to deconstruct this banner we can see we have a great Purpose. We simply make the very finest, technology rich stored energy solutions in the world. The great thing about a growing business is we experience “birthing pains”. It is my experience that these complexities reveal themselves in our Processes. We are growing, it is not easy, but we understand what we have to do, who does it and when. The biggest hurdle is to overcome our mindset. I see all around me People challenging the mindset and setting new standards – I value that I can play my part in constructing a new future for all the stakeholders in this great endeavour.

Tell us about the Andy out of business hours.

Gosh, I like to be busy! First and foremost I have a family with a wife and four children, all girls. Family time is precious. I/We enjoy exercising and music which we all share. I do some personal research around the subject of organisational psychology with a view of one day finishing a PHD. I ride motorbikes, mainly to France, where we spend a lot of time in the Somme region researching the Manchester Regiment and my Great, Great Uncle who died serving in France in October, 1916 aged 19 years (people have given much more than I ever will be called to). I also study French as a second language. My darkest secret is that I Thai Box. As a family we also support our local Church. I love to cook (eat actually)… particular bread baking, old style of course i.e. no machines; I am the only bread-maker in my home.

What would you say to someone looking for a job in Exide?

EXIDE presents each of us with a real opportunity to make a difference, it’s a real job. If you can work with creativity, integrity and commitment come and get on-board – oh, and lets have a bit of fun if we can.

Thanks, Andy!
